Starting in September 2002 teams from Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont and New York have come together for a weekend of great softball where all the proceeds go to a wonderful cause.

2009's tournament raised $4600 and our goal for 2011 is $5000. The tournament is designed to help local citizens in their battle against cancer by donating the tournament proceeds to the Community Cancer Center at Rutland Regional Medical Center.

Cancer is a cruel and inhumane disease and while more and more people are surviving their battles, too many still lose their lives. One day a cure will be found but until it is too many people will continue to lose their battle. This tournament is a chance for strong people to have fun, while raising money to help those who aren't as fortunate with their health. If we can find a cure for cancer, everybody wins!!!

2010's tournament regretfully needs to be cancelled because of a scheduling conflict with the Currier family.   The hope is the tournament will be back in 2011 and held on August 27 & 28 and would feature an upper and lower bracket (based primarily for Rutland area D league teams). ASA pitching height requirements and ASA certified bats will be enforced, as the tournament is no longer an unlimited arc tournament. For a full list of rules click here.

The entry fee would be $200 if received by August 6, 2011 and $225 if received between August 7-22, 2011. Entry fees MUST be received by August 22nd. Registration deadline would be August 22nd, 9 PM by e-mail or 8 PM by phone. Entry fees must be received to secure your spot.

The tournament bracket is generated by a computer program. Tournament officials have no say in the match-ups. Some years your team will have an easy draw, other years it will be tough. So just hope for the best and enjoy the weekend while contributing to a great cause.  Quite frankly after some of the "sportsmanship" last year if you don't like your draw don't show up.

Verbal attacking of the umpires and tournament officials will not be tolerated and can possibly lead to ejections and/or banning from the tournament, sportsmanship is expected and will be enforced.  Again, after 2009's "sportsmanship" if you don't like something don't show up or just leave, nonsense will no longer be tolerated and authorities will be called to the field if necessary, even if it means shutting the tournament down.

All proceeds will be donated towards fighting cancer, so please remember the CAUSE is why the tournament is being held. Contact Rick Currier at 802-356-4311 or DCMemorial@aol.com to sign your team up.
